Vein-Preserving Therapy
If venous insufficiency occurs, a blockage initially forms in the vein, which leads to overstretching. Due to overstretching, the valve sails no longer reach each other, and the blood flow is reversed. From this moment a vicious circle begins, because the backflow leads to increased congestion, which damages further venous valves. Therefore, the disease progresses slowly but steadily, and normal veins eventually turn into varicose veins after years of incorrect loading.
Since 2013 it has been possible to model overstretched valve zones with hyaluronic acid gel in such a way that they ensure a healthy flow again. It is the first method that offers complete vein preservation and long-term healing without surgery. A special ultrasound examination ("morphological and functional venous valve analysis") determines the suitability of this method. This treatment was developed and perfected by Dr Ragg. It is only offered in Switzerland at the angioclinic® Vein Center Zurich.
